QUEEN VILLAGE, PHILADEPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA PROPERTY

Our Queen Village clients envisioned transforming their backyard into an oasis that seamlessly incorporates a private office structure — the true definition of a live-work space. We thoughtfully contrasted the home’s historic architecture with a modern landscape design, creating a harmonious balance between timeless character and contemporary function. The result is a space that feels both purposeful and peaceful, blending productivity with outdoor retreat.

Clean Lines Meet Textural Plantings

Like most city properties, backyard space is extremely limited and often narrow. This property was no exception, featuring a separate structure at the back left that houses a home office. Our clients are passionate about plants and spending time outdoors, and we loved the challenge of transforming this compact space into something truly special for them.

  • Thoughtful Landscape Lighting

Strategic landscape lighting was incorporated to highlight key design elements, create depth after dark, and ensure the space feels warm and inviting well into the evening.

  • Zen Water Feature

A minimalist water feature adds movement and tranquility to the garden, reinforcing a sense of calm while complementing the clean lines of the overall design.

  • Climbing Garden Rose on Corten Trellis

Despite the garden having an overall modern feel, the actual plant varieties are quite delicate and whimsical. For instance, a climbing garden rose trails up a corten steel trellis providing delicate, light pink blooms in the early summer. This contrast between structured materials and soft botanical elements creates balance and visual interest throughout the space.
